Model Overview:

Over eight generations, the Honda Accord has morphed from a spunky compact hatchback into a critically acclaimed, best-selling midsize sedan. Along the way it's also managed to spin off coupe, wagon and hybrid-powered variants. More recently, Honda took the opportunity to catch the burgeoning fastback crossover wave with a novel Accord-based offering called the Accord Crosstour.

The Crosstour is a wagonlike conveyance that features increased ride height, extra room out back and available all-wheel drive (AWD). But despite its expanded cargo area relative to the Accord, the Crosstour delivers considerably less cargo space than most rivals. If you like the Accord sedan but need more space or all-wheel drive, the composed and carlike Honda Accord Crosstour is worth checking out. But if you aren't sold on the design or don't carry lots of stuff, there are better crossovers to consider.

Note: After just two years of marketing this model as the Accord Crosstour, Honda renamed it just "Crosstour" for the 2012 model year. It's the same car, however, and a review of the 2012-and-up Crosstour can be found here.

The Honda Accord Crosstour was produced for 2010 and 2011. Two upscale trim levels of this crossover wagon were offered -- EX and EX-L. The EX came with a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat and a six-CD changer. The EX-L added bigger wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, Bluetooth and premium audio. A navigation system with voice activation and a back-up camera was the only option, and it was only available on the EX-L.

The Accord Crosstour was front-wheel drive by default, with all-wheel drive an option on the EX-L only. All Accord Crosstours were powered by a 3.5-liter V6 producing 271 horsepower. A five-speed automatic was the sole available transmission. In performance testing, a front-wheel-drive Crosstour went from zero to 60 mph in a class-competitive 7.5 seconds.

In reviews, we noted that while overall acceleration was adequate, off-the-mark performance was a little soft due to a lack of torque. Also, the transmission was reluctant to downshift at highway speeds. But despite the Crosstour's elevated center of gravity and extra 300 pounds compared to the Accord sedan, it was still pleasant to drive, with predictable steering and composed handling. The Crosstour's cabin was actually quieter over the road than the sedan's, a welcome upgrade.

Those familiar with the Accord sedan of the same time period will feel right at home in the Crosstour's cabin. The center stack had an attractive high-tech appearance, though an abundance of similar-looking buttons made it look overly busy. The optional navigation system only added to the clutter, but it was easy to operate using voice commands and the multipurpose controller. The Honda Accord Crosstour's sloping roof line ate into rear cargo space -- there was only a bit over 51 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks folded -- though rear passengers enjoyed ample leg- and headroom.

  • All in all best Honda I have ever owned - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

I look for reasons to drive this car thats how much fun this machine is! Driving this has been a heck of a lot better than my previous 2006 Honda civic and 2008 Honda accord. The car hugs the road and gets through traffic with ease. Just a couple days ago I was in wal-mart and this guy got out of his fully loaded Lincoln navigator and as I was walking out of Wally world to my car he took out his camera phone and took a couple pics of my car! As I passed him He asked was that my car and I gladly said thats my new toy and he said thats my next car Im sending pics to my wife! The car has surpassed my expectations and more. Honda you have outdone yourselves with the CT!

This is my sixth Honda, and I love it. This is pure luxury without a pretentious nameplate, which I appreciate. Not for the big SUV crowd, but a powerful, surefooted, sporty, high end ride with great storage and packing capabilities, and lots of room for passengers. I dont even consider it a CUV; to me, its more of a sporty, five door that is both practical and great looking. I love the bigger tires and the 4WD capability for bad weather. Ive gotten lots of comments and questions, all positive. I am thoroughly enjoying this car, and will have it for many years.

  • Another Honda in the Garage - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Wow!! My family has added a third Honda! I had hoped that this car would be available when it was time to add to our Honda car family. We already had an Accord and a Pilot. Both vehicles have served us well and it was an easy decision to buy another Honda. The only real decision was how to get as big a vehicle as possible without it being a full size SUV or minvan. I can say without hesitation that the Crosstour is a great addition to the Honda family.

  • Great value and solid performance - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Now that Ive had it a while, Im even more impressed with my Crosstour than I was when I test drove it. Build quality is excellent and it performs like a sports car. It has plenty of power and takes the curves with a great deal of aplomb. The ride is quiet and it handles city streets like its on a newly paved street.I feel like I got a great deal, in terms of value, with this car as opposed to some of the others I considered. this is our fifth Honda and Ive never been disappointed.

  • In Love with My Crosstour! - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Moved into this car from a Mercedes. Have been driving MB for about 15 years and was concerned about making the change. Must say, I have never been happier with a new car! The Crosstour is loaded, fun to drive and gets me lots of attention! I was shocked to read reviews on the net where folks thought it was not visually appealing. I think she is gorgeous! Really a bad --- car! So much fun. Cant wait to get up in the am and take her for a drive, even if it is work! I love this car!

  • I Bought One - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

I have had this Crosstour for a month now and have no huge complaints. Smooth ride, quiet, slick, looks great, plenty of room, back seats great, good factory tires, great headlights for night driving, molding and seams fit very well, and love the hatchback. Kinda funny how many folks have not liked the pictures and I have to agree it looks much better in my garage! Dont waste your money on AWD if you live a warmer climate due to less fuel mileage. So far, I would buy this car again.

  • Oh, My God, I Love It! - 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Went to the Honda dealer to see their small SUVs and fell in love with this thing. Everyone who drives it loves it. Tremendous features for the price. Have owned Lexus in the past and this is a bargain. Full to drive, sporty but very practical. Just an excellent car. Husband likes driving it better than his Lexus SC430.

I saw the Crosstour and fell in love with it. I have never owned a Honda and have spent a lot of time and energy trying to find a car/SUV that I really like. I would encourage others to buy a different car so I can be the only one driving this awesome car. I like the styling and the interior head/leg room. I am 59" and my husband is 63" and this is perfect. I can see myself driving this car and loving it for a long time. I think the look of the car and its performance are fantastic.
